Chapter Six

Tess giggled and picked up her plate. She was only too eager to share breakfast, but she wanted to share it at close proximity with Vere.

Vere stood at her approach, so she shoved his chair back a foot and sat on his lap, facing him after shoving him back down. The thin silk of her gown did not conceal his ardent interest and she wiggled against him happily until she aligned them in just the right manner.

“What are you doing, Tess?”
